I also understand the list management perspective offered by some of our fellow forum members, if Charlie breaks it's better to find that out now before the draft / trade period. On the issue of Lyon commenting, he's potentially got a few vested interests so we have to take that into consideration; - Is he interested in the Carlton coaching job, if so that critique is basically a free hit betting on a bad outcome, some may even say potentially barracking for a bad outcome, eager for a tragedy? - Does he have any lingering interest and emotional connection with The Aints? We may discount those ideas, but they are every bit as valid as the claims SOS had a conflict of interest, so if we do not consider them seriously we show a definite bias! In the washup, despite my reservations about the benefit versus the risk, Charlie playing is a good news story whatever the outcome. My advice is to not let doubters like myself degrade the experience! As Carlton supporters we all wish him well! Re: Pre Game Promise AFL Rd20: Carlton vs St. Kilda - DJC - 07-29-2021 While Charlie’s return may be a little rushed, I think that it may be part of the long game. Teague has mentioned several times the importance of Charlie being happy. Perhaps getting him back on the park is as much about next season as it is about this one. As for Ross Lyon, his comments are no more informed than mine. Of course he can offer up an opinion, like askholes, everyone has them. He would know very little about Charlie’s form and fitness, and even less about his state of mind. Re: Pre Game Promise AFL Rd20: Carlton vs St. Kilda - cookie2 - 07-29-2021 If Charlie is fully fit then bring him back by all means imo, but don't rush it prematurely. Re: Pre Game Promise AFL Rd20: Carlton vs St. Kilda - townsendcalling - 07-29-2021 If he is properly prepared and ready to go, let him loose now so that he can work through any mental barriers, get confidence in his body and hit a preseason with no inhibitions and kill the 'Charlie Speculation'. It should not be a publicity stunt, but an important part of the preparation for a stuuuunnning 2022 for Charlie!! Re: Pre Game Promise AFL Rd20: Carlton vs St. Kilda - flyboy77 - 07-29-2021 There is one question re the knee - is it more likely to be stronger (or less likely to buckle again) if he keeps resting it or are we well past that point? I would expect the latter otherwise he wouldn't be considered at any level. Fitness? He's a Curnow. A freak (and I mean that in a very complimentary way). Of course he'll be a bit rusty, but the guy knows how to play footy. He plays - and hopefully kicks 6. He needs to refind his 'footy legs'. Re: Pre Game Promise AFL Rd20: Carlton vs St. Kilda - Slowhand - 07-29-2021 LOB will be picked tonight. Last chance lotto........ |
