Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis - crashlander - 08-28-2018

The Penultimate Round and another loss, but at least we gave the Dogs a fight.

Rd 22: Carlton vs Western Bulldogs at Etihad

This week there were 15 voters, up from 13 this time last year and 12 last week. More people could see the game, even though not many bothered to turn up on the night. Not really surprising, considering our form and injuries.
The rating was much better this week: 7.16, which represents something between a D and a D+. Just shows how bad we are going when a D+ appears to be a decent outcome.  :-[
14 players managed to get a mention this week.

Votes:
Simpson, Kade 339
Cripps, Patrick 212
Marchbank, Caleb 179
Byrne, Ciaran 79
Weitering, Jacob 69
Thomas, Dale 60
O'Brien, Lochie 43
Curnow, Edward 38
McKay, Harrison 21
Lamb, Jed 19
Curnow, Charles 5
Rowe, Sam 5
Lobbe, Matthew 2
de Koning, Tom 2

I was the only one to give de Koning a mention.  8)

Progressive Voting:
5259 - Cripps, Patrick (0)

37 - Mullett, Aaron (0)
36 - Lang, Darcy (0)
15 - Polson, Cameron (0)
6 - Pickett, Jarrod (0)

Cripps is almost a season in front of 2nd place, but it is tight for second and that will be determined next week. I reckon Simmo might get 2nd, as Ed' form of late has not been as good.

Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis - crashlander - 09-03-2018

And the winner is .....  ^-^

Carlton vs Adelaide: Rd 23: What a debacle! A few good things, but so many poor ones. Sort of describes the season.  >Big Grin

Not many voters interested this week: 12 people bothered and nobody was really happy. Still, the number was better than this game last year, where we had just 11.
The rating was another very poor one: 5.28, which doesn't reach an F+.  :-[  Sad No big surprise when you lose by 100 points, but ...
15 players rated a mention, although few did enough to be really noticeable.

Votes:
Cripps, Patrick 312
McKay, Harrison 112
Polson, Cameron 112
Weitering, Jacob 79
Lobbe, Matthew 70
Byrne, Ciaran 47
Thomas, Dale 35
Silvagni, Jack 21
Lamb, Jed 14
Murphy, Marc 9
Marchbank, Caleb 9
O'Brien, Lochie 7
Simpson, Kade 5
Petrevski - Seton, Sam 5
Kerridge, Sam 2

Weitering would have scored much better if he hadn't had to go off injured. Polson played what was arguably his best game, ... and Patrick Cripps was Patrick Cripps!

As for the overall voting:
5571 - Cripps, Patrick (313)
2030 - Curnow, Edward (0)
1908 - Simpson, Kade (5)
1723 - Thomas, Dale (35)
1542 - Curnow, Charles (0)
1085 - Fisher, Zac (0)
859 - Jones, Liam (0)
836 - Murphy, Marc (10)
760 - Kreuzer, Matthew (0)
601 - Petrevski - Seton, Sam (5)
540 - Weitering, Jacob (80)
468 - McKay, Harrison (112)
429 - Marchbank, Caleb (10)
382 - Lamb, Jed (14)
348 - Rowe, Sam (0)
325 - Kerridge, Sam (3)
293 - Dow, Patrick (0)
291 - Casboult, Levi (0)

36 - Lang, Darcy (0)

Congratulations to Patrick Cripps! 2018 Jim Park Medalist!

Let'c consider the top 5 for a moment:
5571 - Cripps, Patrick
2030 - Curnow, Edward
1908 - Simpson, Kade
1723 - Thomas, Dale
1542 - Curnow, Charles

[1] Cripps was 3541 votes in front of 2nd place getter, Ed Curnow. 3541 votes! If he had got 3541 votes all up he would still have won by some margin, but to WIN by that margin! Not even Judd managed that.
[2] Ed Curnow started the season well, but fell away near the end. Still 2030 votes is not unreasonable.
[3] Charlie moved up into the top 5, but also fell away late in the season.
[4] Our oldest 2 players managed to get into the top 5, Daisy for the first time. That is impressive.

Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis - LP - 09-03-2018

Great result from Cripps.

He could have won by even more if that spud Murphy hadn't played 14 games and finished top 10, apologists just keep voting for him apparently! :Smile
(Yes I'm being sarcastic! :o)

Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis - Peter Brady - 09-03-2018

It's a shame the season ended. Polson was coming home like a train but he just ran out of games ;D.
Well done to Cripps

Sarcasm is not needed, it's the truth. He might have played 2 or 3 good games this year.

It's an indictment on the composition and condition of our list that Murphy could finish top 10 this year.... a very bad indictment!

Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis - DJC - 09-03-2018

Thanks for your efforts Crash ????

It certainly was a one-sided result and I doubt whether we’ve ever had a player perform at a level so far above everyone else - even with the games others lost through injury.

Now for the Brownlow ????

Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis - Professer E - 09-03-2018

Fly,  Murphy was OK at times but post the GC games he stunk.  Not surprised he polled but really an indictment on the list that so many senior players made the top ten,  yet the greater majority played poorly overall.

Ed was another whose early season was OK,  but as the year progressed his form deteriorated badly.  His last month was putrid.

Re: 2018 Jim Park Medal Analysis - Jack Burton - 09-04-2018

Sums up the year nicely. If you've only got one bloke playing consistently good football week in week out and everybody else is miles behind, the you have a recipe for only winning 2 games and finishing with a percentage of around 60
