Re: 2018 Rd 10: Post Game Insanity: Carlton vs Geelong - Gointocarlton - 05-26-2018 One thing I noticed about our blokes, they hang on to the ball too long and dont go quick by hand or foot with the first option. Then end up getting caught too often. Link players are getting into position but we arent using them. Lacking experience, b. lacking synergy, c. lacking a quick thinking footy brain Hopefully a or b. No player will ever admit they need a rest, and especially not the acting captain. You need strength from the coaches etc. to tell him to take some time off. Cripps himself will never do it. Lacking confidence (ie scared to make a mistake) Yes, that's also an option, although hopefully related to a, and maybe b. D. lack of confidence that you belong makes you hesitant. E. A combination of all factors resulting in hanging onto the ball too long at times. There's a lot going on during a footy game. I noticed us hunting the ball carrier often meaning that we left an option down field to apply pressure which actually gave them a free man ahead of the ball which they used frequently. He was very timid early in the season, but has been gradually building intensity and effort the last few weeks. Maybe it is simply 2nd year blues for him. It wouldn't have a name if it wasn't such a common problem.Just watched the first qtr, unless Im mistaken, dont think he touched the footy. I think it's not gelling as a team as yet - they're unsure who to give it off too. Very annoying to watch us work hard to get it, then second guess and get caught. |
