Rd 6: Carlton vs Sydney: What  difference a week makes!

All of the scribes had Sydney winning this by some margin. Well, that was before we showed some real steel in putting Sydney in their place. Smile It was very enjoyable to be there.

Notes:
[1] We had one more voter (26) than we did this time last year (25), and a LOT more participation that we did last week. And our efforts reflect this.
[2] 18 players got a mention this week, much up on last week. This reflects a real team performance.
[3] A rating of 9.24 was excellent. This equates to almost a B+.
[4] Murphy has got a mention in every game so far this season. He is averaging close to 30 possessions per game and about 6 tackles per game. It shows just how much we missed him last year when he was injured.
[5] Sam Rowe has been in our best in 4 of the 6 games to date. His only real fail was against GC.
[6] Murphy has had 2 BoGs, as has Cripps. Kreuzer has 1 and Docherty has 1.
[7] 23 players have got a mention in he votes to this point.

Votes:
Docherty, Sam 292
Simpson, Kade 249
Kreuzer, Matthew 201

10 - Thomas, Dale (0)

Murphy still holds a considerable lead, with Kreuzer and Docherty vying closely for 2nd spot. Cripps is coming 4th at the moment, with a LOT of players in the 300s and 400s jostling behind him.

Re: 2017 Jim Park Medal Analysis: - crashlander - 05-08-2017

Sorry I left this one only partially finished for so long. I'll do better.

Re: 2017 Jim Park Medal Analysis: - crashlander - 05-15-2017

Rd 7: Carlton defeated Collingwood - almost the perfect weekend for the Blues

Notes:
[1] 21 voters this week, compared to 26 for the same time last year. Still 21, is good.
[2] 17 players got a vote, just 1 less than last week. Another strong team effort.
[3] A rating of 9.65 was even better than last week. That is just less than a A-.
[4] Murphy managed his 3rd BOG.

Votes:
Murphy, Marc 301
Kreuzer, Matthew 272
Petrevski - Seton, Sam 252
Curnow, Edward 171

Murphy and Kreuzer have moved out in 1st and 2nd spots, but behind them things is a solid group of consistent vote getters.

Top 10 looks good to me

Great to see Kreuzer having a good year and more to come I reckon.

Re: 2017 Jim Park Medal Analysis: - flyboy77 - 05-15-2017

Gibbs, a perennial underperformer....

Re: 2017 Jim Park Medal Analysis: - crashlander - 05-30-2017

I keep apologizing for not being as up to date as I wish to be here. I guess I will stop some other day, when I am either punctual or finished.

Round 8: Carlton vs St Kilda and how much I wanted to be these clowns

Notes:
[1] Poor voter turnout this week: 13 voters only. Such is life until we win regularly. This time last year more than 20 people voted. Last week 21 people voted.
[2] The rating was not that bad for a loss: 8.33, which represents a C+. It also represents a HUGE improvement compared to last year, where St Kilda murdered us twice.
[3] 13 players got a mention this week, well down on the 18 of last week.

Votes:

Re: 2017 Jim Park Medal Analysis: - crashlander - 06-03-2017

Rd 9: Carlton vs Fremantle in Perth
1st quarter was excellent. 2nd quarter was adequate. After half time was not worth worrying bout. Pity I didn't see anything of the game. Apparently Murphy and Williamson kicked ripper goals.

[Notes:
[1] The rating, 7.57, suggests that we were not bad, but not quite as good as we require. This represents half way between a D+ and a C-.
[2] With the game in Perth and not on free to air TV not as many people saw the game, so not as many people could vote. There were 17 voters this round, compared to 18 for the same round last year. It would have been nice if we could see it.
[3] It appears that another of our youngsters put his hand up. Williamson managed his best polling game so far.
[4] 11 players managed to get a mention this week, down from last week’s 13. That suggests that we had fewer players do as well as we required.
Hopefully we can do better after the Bye, although it is likely that more youngsters will get a taste soon.

Voting:
Murphy, Marc 232
Docherty, Sam 227
Kreuzer, Matthew 156
Curnow, Edward 147
Gibbs, Bryce 120
Silvagni, Alex 93
Cripps, Patrick 67
Williamson, Tom 58
Casboult, Levi 27
Marchbank, Caleb 4
Fisher, Zac 4

This represents the 5th time that Murphy has been our highest vote getter this year, from 9 rounds. That is impressive.
Gibbs has been a contributor in each game this year, getting a mention but not polling top 2 yet.
Alex Silvagni has managed votes in every game he has played at senior level since his promotion.
Cripps has managed to get the most votes from us on 3 separate occasions this season.
Docherty has only missed the top 10 twice this season.
Caleb Marchbank has been in the top ten 6 times so far: not bad for a kid n his 1st year with us.
Simmo is slowing down. He hasn't managed a BOG yet this year, but he still continues to be n the top 10 regularly.

Progressive Voting:
2035 - Murphy, Marc (0)
1406 - Kreuzer, Matthew (0)
1244 - Docherty, Sam (0)
1092 - Cripps, Patrick (0)
536 - Gibbs, Bryce (0)
512 - Simpson, Kade (0)

379 - Marchbank, Caleb (0)
351 - Silvagni, Alex (0)
295 - Petrevski - Seton, Sam (0)
220 - Silvagni, Jack (0)
129 - Weitering, Jacob (0)
126 - Curnow, Charles (0)
102 - Williamson, Tom (0)
77 - White, Simon (0)

3 - Pickett, Jarrod (0)

Murphy has skipped out t a solid 600 vote lead from Kreuzer, who is 200 votes in front of 3rd place Docherty with Cripps another 200 behind him.
After them is a very solid group of players, lead by Gibbs and Simpson. Alex Silvagni has worked his way into this group in a short period of time.

Re: 2017 Jim Park Medal Analysis: - crashlander - 06-07-2017

Rd 10: Carlton vs North Melbourne: another one we could have won with a bit more poise.

Notes:
[1] With this game in Melbourne, there were a lot more people voting. There were 21 people voting, up from 17 last week. This is the same number of voters who voted for our big win in the corresponding game last year.
[2] The rating was 7.92, more or less a C.
[3] 13 players managed to attract a vote this week. This compares to the 11 from the previous week.

Votes:
Gibbs, Bryce 332
Kreuzer, Matthew 331
Docherty, Sam 155
Cripps, Patrick 75
Curnow, Edward 70
Simpson, Kade 64
Curnow, Charles 62
Silvagni, Alex 47
Cuningham, David 30
Murphy, Marc 13
Plowman, Lachlan 11
Marchbank, Caleb 6
Wright, Matthew 2

[1] It was very close at the top, with Gibbs earning BOG honours by a single vote from Kreuzer.
[2] This was Gibbs' 1st BOG for the year, although he has been a consistent vote getter.
[3] Murphy had a relatively down day, attracting only 13 votes. Plowman and Marchbank also had similar numbers of votes.
[4] Cuningham and Charlie Curnow attracted considerably more votes this week. This was Cuningham's best result so far, while Charlie Curnow managed his 2nd best tally.

Progressive Results:
2048 - Murphy, Marc (0)
1726 - Kreuzer, Matthew (0)

Re: 2017 Jim Park Medal Analysis: - LP - 06-07-2017

Thank-you Crash.

I suppose it's no accident that as we get deep in the season the kids are fading in the top-end votes.

Re: 2017 Jim Park Medal Analysis: - crashlander - 06-07-2017

It will be interesting to see how the youngsters handle the next few weeks. Will the bye have a positive effect? Will the (potentially) heavy grounds grind them down somewhat? Will they handle the pressure?

Excellent questions that the next few weeks will answer (I hope).
