Re: State Elections - Baggers - 06-11-2024 (06-10-2024, 12:39 PM)LP link Wrote:One of the big reasons kids and young couples can't get homes these days is because Kennett filled the pockets of Landlords with government funded cash to house all the inmates he had kicked out of the asylums. You hit the nail on the head, Spotted One, with this important fact. The terrible impact Kennett had on mental health in this state cannot be understated. By closing so many mental health facilities for serious conditions he created a hell on Earth for many families. Released into 'family care' these deeply ill individuals -- schizophrenia, psychosis, severe personality disorders etc. -- these families were left to manage deeply damaged/ill folks without any training or knowledge of how to treat the condition, whatsoever. Re: State Elections - Professer E - 06-12-2024 Jeff ####ing Kennett. And then this bloke has the temerity to become what, the head of Beyond Blue. Spare me. Talk about the cabal running Victoria for who's benefit? Re: State Elections - DJC - 06-12-2024 (06-12-2024, 02:12 AM)Professer E link Wrote:Jeff ####ing Kennett. What about Abbott conferring a knighthood on the old Queen’s hubby? The whole thing is farcical! By all means recognise volunteers, bravery, medical breakthroughs, etc but forget politicians and bureaucrats! Re: State Elections - LP - 07-04-2024 I think what has happened in the UK election shows being in power in a pandemic is a poison chalice, look around the globe and regardless of whether the incumbent incumbent party was conservative or socialist, they are now being punished. The bigger worry, it seems in pretty much every location the hard right is gaining ground, they are favoured by nutters and protestors, it's bad for everybody. Re: State Elections - madbluboy - 07-05-2024 The left have become worse. Re: State Elections - ElwoodBlues1 - 07-05-2024 Tories have been in for 14 years, England have overdone immigration and fallen behind in housing, infrastructure and have a welfare system culture and mass amounts of homeless folk. Re: State Elections - DJC - 07-05-2024 The UK is stuffed. Boris was a persuasive but incompetent buffoon who sowed the seeds of disaster and Brexit finished them off. One of my favourite places, Orkney, is looking to leave the UK and hook up with Norway. Apart from the historical and cultural links, Orkney claims that it gets better support from Norway than it does from Scotland and the UK. This could be the first step towards a disunited kingdom. Unfortunately it cops a bit not unlike Tasmania, full of Ex. Pats(Vikings mostly), two heads, isle of the damned, oddness, yada, yada, yada! FWIW, I like Tasmania as well. ;D The bigger worry for me is the gains for the likes of Farage, we've seen things kick off in similar fashion in Germany and France. |
