Every series has a villain and he or she has to see the series out so his/her partner is told they have to keep writing stay to achieve that goal regardless if they want to leave the show or not.
The experts are miked up and told what to ask, hence one of the female experts who began with the show left because she wouldnt be used in a contrived role. Contestants get about $150 a day to go on the show and have to rely on their social media accounts gaining numbers due to exposure on the show to make money for them as they tend to pick a lot of influencers as contestants who want to get moresponsorships/marketing deals from companies.
A couple of the recent contestants are also professional reality stars who have appeared in other countries versions of similar reality type shows. The Professional model who appeared on MAFS this season is a seasoned performer who dates rocks stars etc and got a few noses out of joint with the other women given her glamourous appeal has led to her taking most of the good post show marketing/company gigs and she is set to become very successful after the show.
The model you are referring was on UK Big Brother and was associated with some other scumbag that was in the news recently. The are all professional DHs

Re: Reality TV - Thryleon - 03-29-2023

Sigh.  Had a rough spot in our marriage a few years back.  Went to a marriage counsellor for a bit, and found it a good test of whether or not she was any good when she referenced something happening on MAFS.

Needless to say, i disregarded her as being any good from that moment onwards.

Imagine being serious about being a relationship advisor and using a social experiment as an example of anything worthwhile.

Yep he was a crim of some sort, she was also hanging out with Justin Bieber for a while too but the point is she is not a genuine marriage prospect/contestant and was on for her ability to create a storyline and up her social media profile which I believe is large and even more prosperous now. One of the males on the show has also featured on English reality TV and was also a non genuine choice but there for the storyline value only.

I confess to having never watched any 'reality' TV show, I have too much respect for the mental health of my computer monitor and/or TV screen.  Big Grin

I get dragged into it with the trouble and strife, I sit there hoping like hell that nasal hair I'm tugging on will be attached to my brain so I can end it all quickly!

The good thing at the moment is that at least the girl has been won over by the dog shows, the only problem is those shows spend too much time talking to the people and not nearly enough time talking to the dogs!

My exposure is limited to the promotional clips that the networks inflict on innocent viewers.  Although I did watch one episode of the Resort with my basketballer “Bruce”.

I do watch Grand Designs.  Is that reality TV?

Re: Reality TV - rocky - 03-29-2023

The reason we have 2 TV's is because of reality shows. Our marriage was seriously on the rocks when the wife was subjecting me to "Big Brother" on multiple occasions many years ago. Was even switching over when I was paying a visit to the toilet!!
Fortunately we got the second set and all the anguish dissipated and we are a happy couple again
;D

Ah, now there is quality stuff... Escape To The Country and all the other home reno and/or purchase advise shows - good value. I've gleaned many useful tips from those programs.

Re: Reality TV - Lods - 03-29-2023

My wife likes the Block and MAFS.
I organise my stamp collection while they're on ;D .
So I'm half watching.
She gives me a dirty look when I make comments at some of the less intelligent behaviour (frequently).
