Sam Kerr is 23, let's have the debate in 10 years! Re: Australia v Brazil - flyboy77 - 11-22-2017 Two goals tonight against China. The first one she beat three taller opponents for a header, the 2nd a remarkable long range bomb. Best in t he world presently. Did not even make the shortlist for the top 3 in the FIFA Women's player of the year this year (should have). Instead a non-pro college student was one of the 3 shortlisted (Deyna Castellanos), Castellanos can play btw. How Sam Kerr didn't make the top 3 thought.... It seems outrageous. Re: Australia v Brazil - Thryleon - 11-23-2017 Its probably to do with weighting for the competition combined with timing of the body of work required to win a competition. i.e. Sam may have scored most of her goals after the cut off for that season. If the competition is important, the W league isnt helping her. IF the timing is off, she will come into the frame for the next title up for grabs. Not so. Quote:........ with the women’s awards taking the period 20 November 2016 to 6 August 2017 inclusive into account. The public gets in say in the winner ffs. http://www.fifa.com/the-best-fifa-football-awards/news/y=2017/m=8/news=ten-shortlisted-for-the-best-fifa-women-s-player-2017-2904327.html Re: Australia v Brazil - Thryleon - 11-24-2017 Looking at the names of the clubs these girls represent, there is no secret as to why she didnt win. Combine that with a voting public likely to be US based and there is your answer. |
