Is this too simplistic??

Harry takes No.1 Defender, Charlie 2 and JSOS 3.
Given Charlies preparation etc, his job is 80% decoy, get No 2 right out of Harry's way, lead hard up the ground and if he is paid no respect, start playing through him. We know Harry one on one or even one on two is a fair bet.  We have the personnel in this game to make life easier for him and get some good gametime into Charlie while we do it.

Meanwhile, JSOS on Number 3 can really unlock the shackles.

As long as BigH and Charlie do not collide taking them both out!

I'm more worried about the other end. Last week Max King had 8 contested marks and 6 goals. No one has done that since Wayne Carey over 20 years ago.

Really keen to see how big Weiters goes, he's had a rough trot against The Aints in the past, but countering that already has Hawkins as a scalp this season.

Hopefully those quads don't fail him wrestling with King!

Charlie Curnow is wondering what he did to be so forgotten given his 7mark 7 goal game against the Bulldogs last time he played them.

Win it for Teaguey....otherwise you might be getting Clarko...then you'll be sorry :o

Re: Pre Game Promise AFL Rd20: Carlton vs St. Kilda - kruddler - 07-30-2021

If Harry plays (and stays on the park) and Charlie lasts 4 quarters (and assuming we don't lose 1 of Weitering, Jones, TDK) we will win.

Basically, if our spine lasts the game, we win.

It might not be easy, it might not be pretty, but we should win.

I guess the biggest problem is that its been so long since we've had 2 key forwards in the side, we might have forgotten how to play with them!

8 Contested marks

Re: Pre Game Promise AFL Rd20: Carlton vs St. Kilda - Baggers - 07-30-2021

We will be much better served with Kennedy and Cripps on ball.

This will be a fascinating contest. Hopefully.

Ratts is a pretty good student of the game with a good strategic mindset. He'll have King moving about a lot like Larkey did last week. Body to body nobody can beat Weiters... just ask Hawkins.

On paper we have a much better side, but are carrying a coupla wounded blokes who just happen to be keys.

Both sides are coming into the game with recent disappointments. Bring it on.
