Good four quarter effort. Second time this year after the Bulldogs game. Need to kick straight. Once again it gets to mind set. If we kick those goals, and we maintain our intensity, the game becomes becomes a lot easier. Learning how to win and believing in winning is where we need to get to in the next four weeks. Collingwood, GWS, then Sydney and Adelaide are all games we could and should win, though the GWS game will depend on which GWS side turns up. Ten wins will get us into the finals, nine and percentage maybe. If we miss out it will probably get back to the Hawthorn game. Every team has had a bad game, that was definitely ours.
The spread of performance against Gold Coast was excellent. Eddie was probably our weakest link because of his fumbling of easy marks, but he did make a contribution. The pressure from below on spots is very good. Dow, O'Brien, Kennedy, McGovern (maybe), Marchbank, Cuningham, Lang, Polson and Moore are all waiting in the wings while guys like Philp, Honey and Owies are also pressing.
I am excited and nervous about the next four weeks.

Great observation RR.
That makes sense.

I've remained patient with Plowman, which has been testing at times as I shut my eyes when he's under pressure. In the last few games in particular that hasn't happened. He's more composed, whether marking, or poised ready to pass to the next link in the chain.

Wow (not in a BT kind of way?) I hope you're right and this develops.

Go Blues

We are also putting more defensive pressure on up the ground and the ball isn’t rocketing into the forward 50 like an Exocet missile.  All of the defenders seem to have a little more time and poise as a result.

We still let our defensive structures slip at times, like when two Suns were left unattended 20m from goal.  Fix that and we will be hard to beat.

I don't know if there are any plans to make many changes, but Owies is certainly putting his hand up. 3 more goals for the 2nds with some nice highlights.

I’m liking Matthew Cottrell. Disposal efficiency will improve when he realises he has a bit more time, but he’s putting in the effort and finding the pill

Who are you going to drop for him? Eddie??

Can't see it happening.

Don't forget Dow's terrific 2's form... another who is knocking on the door.

An embarrassment of riches?

Players knocking on the door with good form / returning from injury.
Dow
Owies
Kennedy
Marchbank
Cuningham
McGovern
.....
As well as kids like
Philp
Honey

Add to that players who are out for the year....
Kreuzer
Curnow
Newman
Silvagni

.....and we are still winning!

When was the last time we had this problem that we had solid, in form players who could not get a game?
